Celebrating our new Silver Sisters! Congratulations on your 25 years of Sisterhood and Service 🩶
Sorors of Theta Rho Omega Chapter participated in a Galentine's Day event on February 25, 2023, hosted by Sisterly Relations after our February chapter meeting, supporting a restaurant in our charter town of Markham, Illinois! We gathered at “On the 9” an new black-owned establishment with a great menu, featuring a black female guest chef known for her specialty waffles! Thirty-five Sorors attended. Financial impact the vendor is estimated at $650. Pictures below of Sorors enjoying themselves.
As part of the MLK Day of Service, Theta Rho Omega partnered with members of the community to collect toiletries and household essentials to support the Anew: Building Beyond Violence & Abuse “new housing” program. These items help domestic violence survivors and their families who are re-establishing housing. Picture below: Sorors dropping off donations at the Anew office in Homewood, Illinois.
The Theta Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® hosted “Dream Makers” Job Fair & MLK Day of Service in partnership with Target Stores, NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness), Openlands and the Cancer Support Center on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Markham Library. The event supports economic progress in communities we serve and is an opportunity for us to showcase our international programs for 2022-2026. Openlands presented their tree planters grants to promote tree planting. The South Suburban Chapter of NAMI provided mental health awareness resources, the Cancer Support Center of Homewood provided resource information, and Target hosted a job fair screen applicants on site. Sorors of Theta Rho Omega chapter supported logistics and gave all participants reusable bags to support “green” living.
